Cameron Gosling suffered a "shock reaction" after jumping into the River Wear, an inquest into his death found on Monday.

The 14-year-old died while swimming in the river with friends near Bishop Auckland, in July, when he started struggling in the water. His friends were praised for trying to save his life.

The inquest, at Crook Coroner's Court, heard the 14-year-old had not drowned, but died as a result of being immersed in water.
