Two hundred and seven of the 816 companies in the SSI supply chain are located in the Tees Valley, according to a report by Tees Valley Unlimited.

It is a month since the Redcar steelworks closed, following the collapse of SSI UK, with the loss of more than 2,200 jobs.

Now, a new report has found that 114 of the 207 businesses based in the Tees Valley have been impacted by the closure of the steelworks.

Of those 114 Tees Valley firms, 24 have reported job losses totalling 834 employees. This brings the total of North East job losses, caused by the collapse of SSI UK, to more than 3,000, since September.
