The Government has issued new guidelines to encourage companies working in the public sector to buy British steel.

The Cabinet Office has said it wants to create a more level playing field for British companies.

Meanwhile, £7.3 million has been released by the Government to the SSI taskforce. It is the first part of the £50 million package to fund the re-training of former steel workers who lost their jobs following the closure of the SSI steelworks in Redcar.
