Duchess of Northumberland opens The Northumbria Hospital

The Duchess of Northumberland will meet staff and patients when she opens The Northumbria hospital today.

The Duchess will hear how emergency care has been transformed at the new specialist emergency care hospital in Cramlington.

Some of the region's top surgeons are working seven days a week at the hospital ensuring patients in North Tyneside and Northumberland have their operations as soon as possible.

Later a plaque to mark the opening of the building will be unveiled by the Duchess.
