New shop to help struggling families in Redcar

A new shop aiming to provide help and support to people struggling to make ends meet has just opened in Redcar.

Based on Queen Street, the Next Step Shop, is being run by local charity Footprints in the Community, in addition to its Redcar Area Foodbank.

This new shop has a focus on people that regularly go to the foodbank, with a 'members only' policy running, where people pay £2 a week and can choose ten items of food up to £15.

The shop will open two days a week initially during the pilot scheme running until January 201, but if successful the charity will seek funding to keep the shop open for longer.
