NUFC blog: 'Tin hat' time on Tyneside

Attack, attack, attack or at least clap us back, lads!

After the comprehensive defeat we suffered at the weekend it's back to the blame game. As usual, it's there in abundance at St James Park.

From Shearer's tweets...

.. to Steve McClaren mentioning before the game with Sheffield Wednesday that several 1st team players had asked NOT to be rested. Adding that to the fact we lose Steven Taylor for a few months, we are looking at a make-shift team. That is sending a restless and frail sign - it says that we did not have enough cover and that should see a pumped up Yorkshire mentality.

In the same press conference, our coach said he expected this start to the season and jaw dropping time with Tiote.

In the previous round we saw an impressive Thauvin dismantle 2nd division opposition, but for the 1st 45 minutes, he played like a player with concrete in his fancy boots.

Wednesday are 14th in the championship but with the attitudes of Sissoko, Mbemba, Obertan, and De Jong, you would think they were NOT the correct choices.

The fans turned up in their droves, but this team did not seem to be able to handle the coaching provided by the new team in place. There is a distinct lack of belief.

Williamson has been overlooked so far this season, he now seems to be the main threat after Janmatt. It's almost as if we only started to play after 64 long minutes and then... BANG - we are 0-1 down at 75 minutes and soon after it's a sitter that's missed by Bus. It was incredible to see.

Even with 10 minutes to go, having all our players back for a Wednesday corner, you can't make that up....the final whistle comes to a disbelieving St James' Park crowd.

We have been saying for months, it's a must win. Well next up is Chelsea!

As they say in the trade... 'IT'S TIN HAT TIME ON TYNESIDE'
