New hospital in Cramlington prepares for patients
A new hospital is opening in the region. The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital in Cramlington will open its doors at 6am on Tuesday 16th June 2015.
Doctors say it will save more lives and could reduce A and E waiting times across Northumberland.
It means Hexham, Wansbeck and North Tyneside hospitals will now only be available for less serious problems, with life-threatening A and E cases being taken straight to Cramlington.
Some have criticised the move saying rural communities could suffer as a consequence.
