Three more cases of E. coli confirmed at Barnard Castle nursery

Three more cases of E. coli have been confirmed after an outbreak linked to Kirklands Day Nursery in Barnard Castle.

This brings the total number of people affected so far to eight (seven children and one adult relative).

Public Health England and Durham County Council are continuing to investigate the outbreak that is linked to attendance at the nursery. Parents have been told to be vigilant for symptoms in their children.

One of the affected children remains in hospital but the other seven people are recovering at home.

Officials from Public Health England have warned parents in the area to be "vigilant" and look out for symptoms in their children.
