Runners are being given the opportunity to race under the darkest night skies in Northumberland this weekend.

The inaugural ‘Dark Skies Run’ at Kielder Water & Forest Park will take place today, April 18.

Organised by Trail Outlaws and supported by Northumbrian Water, the 26.5 mile challenge starts at Hawkhirst Scout Activity Centre.

The race will then follow the Lakeside Way trail, which has a total vertical ascent of 2684 feet, around northern Europe’s largest man-made lake.
