Long distance swimmer conquers Kielder
Former Hexham man Colin Hill has become the first person to swim the entire length of Kielder Reservoir.
It took the long distance swimmer two hours to complete the ten kilometres from Bakethin Weir at the top of the lake to Kielder Dam at the bottom.
The swim was staged to publicise the first ever open swim event on Kielder Water. About 500 people are expected to take part in the event on Sunday September 7th when people can swim either a mile, 3.8 kilometres or 10 kilometres.
Swimming is normally banned on the reservoir.
