The temporary closure of a bridge in Northumberland was marked with a nod to its past.

Ovingham Bridge was built 131 years ago, in 1883, designed to support horse and cart as traders made their way between Ovingham and Prudhoe.

But it's struggling to cope with the traffic of 2014.

Northumberland County Council say there is no choice but to close it for up to 12 months to rebuild it to modern standards.

People who live on both sides support the scheme, but say there may be some inconvenience.
