People of Seaham make World War I statue appeal

A North East town is trying to raise £85,000 to keep a statue which was only supposed to be on display there for three months.

The people of Seaham have fallen in love with their new work of art and the sculptor, Ray Lonsdale, has given them first option to buy it, so they can keep it in the town for good.

They are already well on their way to raising enough money, as Derek Proud reports.
