Northumberland College "best in North East"

Northumberland College celebrating league table success

Northumberland College’s students are celebrating after the latest national league tables published by the government’s Skills Funding Agency rate the college as the best in the North East for long course student success rates.

Its success rates are fourth best nationally and it is the only North East college to feature in the top 12 in England for 16-18 year olds studying long courses, with a learner success rate of 91.1% and an achievement rate of 97.5%

The college ranks sixth best nationally and is the only North East college to feature in the top 16 for students of all ages studying long courses, with a learner success rate of 89.4% and an achievement rate of 97.2%.

This latest achievement follows the college’s Ofsted result last March when it achieved a Grade 2 result and praise from inspectors for significant improvements.

Northumberland College has two main campus sites; Ashington provides a wide range of vocational courses from art and design and engineering to hair and beauty, while Kirkley Hall is the college’s land-based centre where students have access to two commercially run farms, an equine centre and zoological gardens with 130 species. The college also has outreach centres at Berwick and Hexham.

The college offers a broad range of provision from full-time courses for 14 to 18s, to Apprenticeships, full and part-time courses for 19+ students, a range of higher education HNC, HND and Foundation Degree courses and bespoke training for employers and works with over 700 businesses across the region.
