Meet the team at ITV News Tyne Tees
You have seen their faces on television: now, find out more about the ITV News Tyne Tees presenting team.
Pam Royle & Ian Payne - Main Presenters
Pam Royle has been a familiar face in the North for 30 years.
She was first on screen as a Weather Presenter. Then after three years in London working for ITN and LWT she came back to the North East as co-presenter of Tyne Tees TV’s nightly news programme, Northern Life.
In her time with ITV, Pam has presented numerous programmes including arts, religion, and gardening. She has produced and presented current affairs programmes filmed in South Africa, the USA and Norway.
One of her highlights was visiting Buckingham Palace to interview the Princess Royal. Another was being part of the presenting team that launched ITN’s world news programme for Super Channel – a satellite pioneer in pan-European broadcasting.
Prior to becoming a graduate trainee with ITN, Pam worked as an Assistant Librarian at the Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, and taught English and Drama in a Chinese girls ‘ school in Hong Kong.

Ian Payne’s news presenting move followed a career in sports broadcasting. With a sports degree, he cut his teeth with independent producers Nova International before switching to Tyne Tees TV in 1992.
After working for the regions and ITV Sport on the Champions League, The Ashes, and the Rugby World Cup, a career high came when Ian was awarded RTS Presenter of the Year following his stint at the Beijing Paralympic Games.

Ross Hutchinson - Weather Presenter
Since joining the team in August 2012, our weatherman Ross Hutchinson has been kept very busy with the ever-changing conditions. Since he arrived we have had floods, storms, gales and heavy snow. We are starting to think he might have something to do with it!
Ross joined us from ITV Anglia having spent the best part of a decade in regional broadcasting. It was there that he earned his stripes as a weather presenter after several courses with the Met Office.

Rachel is now our early presenter, reading the news during Good Morning Britain. She also enjoys reporting on entertainment stories.
