Hoppings Fair 'set to return'
Newcastle's famous funfair the Hoppings could be set to return this summer. The event, held at the Town Moor at the end of June, was cancelled last year after being based in the city for more than 130 years. It followed a row about rent between stall-holders and the owners of the land.
That dispute is largely resolved, according to the Showmen's Guild of Great Britain, which met for a meeting this afternoon in Durham. It says they are ready to return, barring some final talks with the Freemen of Newcastle. Watch the full interview with the northern chairman, Glenn Miller, here:
