Jason Donovan brings colour to Newcastle

Jason Donovan is part of the colourful cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert as it comes to the end of its national tour.

One of its last stops is at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle.

It is the story of two drag queens and a transsexual who embark on a road trip across the Australian outback - complete with feathers, sequins and a giant stiletto.

Jason Donovan was among the original West End cast and has picked up the same roll for the year long national tour.

He says it has been a huge commitment but has been an amazing experience.

Over 500 costumes are worn during the show - from giant cupcakes to the obligatory kangaroo.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert is at the Theatre Royal until the end of next week.
