Tyneside theatre announces ambitious expansion
A Tyneside theatre is planning an ambitious ten million pound expansion of its venue.
Live Theatre has bought the last remaining plot of land on Newcastle's quayside and will use it to develop a public park, outdoor stage and children and young person's writing centre to add to its main theatre and workshop complex.
A riverside office complex will be rented out to generate income. Money for the expansion has come from a European fund grant and a loan from Newcastle City Council.
Live Theatre's Chief Executive Jim Beirne says the expansion will complete the charity's building programme begun in the 1970s.
