World Champion to race at Great North CityGames
It has been announced that 400m World Champion and British athletics legend, Christine Ohuruogu, will compete at the Great North CityGames on September 14.
The event aims to bring athletics out of the stadium and into the city - introducing the sport to a whole new audience.
She has competed at previous meetings in both NewcastleGateshead and Manchester and will be racing over 150m on Tyneside next month.
Lining up alongside her on the specially constructed track will be the USA's Natasha Hastings and Jamaica's 2004 Olympic sprint relay gold medallist Aleen Bailey.
The games are now entering their fifth year and are set to bring world class competition to the NewcastleGateshead Quayside the day before the Great North Run takes place.
Over 25,000 spectators turned out last year to watch performances from some of the most recognisable names in international sport - including Team GB’s Double Olympic Champion Mo Farah, Olympic Champion Greg Rutherford, and Olympic Champion Christian Taylor of the USA.
