Di Canio says Sunderland "relaxed too much" after Newcastle and Everton wins
Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio says his side's thrashing at the hands of Aston Villa happened because they "relaxed too much" after victories over Newcastle United and Everton.
The Black Cats earned back-to-back wins over the Magpies and the Toffees but were beaten 6-1 by relegation threatened Villa on Monday night. Di Canio says previous results may have affected his team's performance at Villa Park.
He said:
Sunderland host Stoke City in their next Premier League match on Monday night.
