Mowbray doubts Boro can make playoffs

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has written off his side's chances of making this season's Championship playoffs.

Boro were second in the table at Christmas but a run of just three wins in their last 18 league games has seen them slip to tenth place. The Teessiders beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the Riverside on Tuesday, but Mowbray said last weekend's home defeat against Brighton all but ended the club's promotion dreams for this campaign.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to Bolton, Mowbray said:
