Changes expected for Magpies against Belgians
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Venue: St James' Park
Kick-off: 8:05pm
Newcastle United are expected to field a mixture of youth and experience in tonight's Europa League clash with Belgian side Club Brugge.
The Magpies have rotated their squad for European games this season, and have already fielded a number of younger players in the competition so far. Among those expected to feature this evening are striker Sammy Ameobi and defender Shane Ferguson.
Speaking ahead of tonight's Group D match, Alan Pardew said: "Two in particular will play - Ferguson and Sammy Ameobi - the two players I think that can affect the first team at this football club and take us forward.
"It's a big game for them. They're training very. very well, and we hope to see some fine performances from them two in particular."
Blending youth with experience
A number of more senior players are also in contention for the game. Sammy's older brother, Shola, scored his first European goal of the season against French side Bordeaux and could make an appearance against Brugge.
Midfielder Cheick Tiote is also expected to play. The Ivorian was sent off in the Wear-Tyne derby against Sunderland last weekend and is now suspended for the next three league games, but the 26-year-old is still available for Europe.
On Tiote's disclipline, Pardew said: "I spoke to him today about his disciplinary record and made it very clear to him of his responsibility to Newcastle, and I think that he responded well to that.
"Yes, he will play [tonight] and he will play in the next game too of course, because we need to keep him up to match speed."
