More than 10,000 spectators turned out to watch the Great North City Games in Gateshead. They saw double Olympic champion Mo Farah win a two mile guest race at the start of the events.

6,000 youngsters were also running - in the mini and junior Great North Runs around the Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides.

Olympic gold medal long jumper Greg Rutherford was also competing in the City Games. And Paralympic gold medal swimmer Josef Craig from South Tyneside was the starter for the children's run.
