More than 250 friends and colleagues of Freddie Fletcher have attended a special memorial service at All Saints Church in Gosforth, Newcastle. The former Newcastle United chief executive died aged 71 of an asbestos related cancer.

He joined the management of the Club in 1992 and one of his most important achievements was to bring back Kevin Keegan to St James's Park as manager. By the time he left in 2000 Newcastle had been in two FA Cup finals and was managed by Bobby Robson, another legend lured back to the North East by Freddie Fletcher.
