Concern is growing for a missing oil industry executive after a fraudster tried to sell her flat be posing as her brother.

Carole Waugh, 50, has not been seen by her family since mid-April but financial activity has become more common - sparking further police investigation.

Ms Waugh, who's brother lives in Cumbria and who was last at a family party in her mother's home in Durham vanished three months ago.

Since then, three women have tried to impersonate her - one at Westfield shopping centre in West London.

Ms Waugh's brother, Chris, travelled to London with his wife and daughter to help detectives with their investigation.

He said that the family were "euphoric" at the Easter party, and were planning a birthday party for Miss Waugh, who turned 50 in June.

As well as a family celebration, she was planning a holiday to Las Vegas with female friends, and Mr Waugh appealed for them to come forward, as well as anyone who may have worked with her recently.

Mr Waugh said: "We are keen to track them down to see what was going on. If we could find the friends, just to see what light they can shine on sister.

"Anything with regards to friends or work colleagues even."

Ms Waugh was able to work sporadically because she had been "very careful" with her money, her brother said.

He called on anyone who has information to come forward.

"Anything at all, no matter how minor they think it is, would be appreciated."

Bank manager Mr Waugh said: "We're all very proud of our sister, we're all from a working class background and my sister always worked to improve herself and to take the opportunities that life offered.

"She is very driven and knew exactly what she wanted to do."

She was "very frugal and careful" and bought property in Harrowby Street, Marylebone, where she was living when she went missing.

The 50-year-old last contacted her mother around a week after leaving Cumbria on Easter Monday and since then nothing has been heard.

A sighting of her in London on May 4 is understood to be unconfirmed.

Scotland Yard's Homicide and Serious Crime team were called in last Thursday as suspicions grew.
