North East athletes selected for London 2012 Paralympics

Three North East track and field athletes have been formally selected for the British team at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Three-time gold medallist *Stephen Miller *will compete in his fifth Paralympics. The club thrower from Cramlington in Northumberland has been representing the country for ten years and is a strong medal hope for London 2012.

Another gold medallist, Hazel Robson from Houghton-le-Spring, is also in the team. She will compete in the 100m and 200m individual events and has been chosen for the 4x100m relay team.

*Jade Jones *from Ingleby Barwick is looking forward to her Olympic debut. The 16-year-old wheelchair sprinter will compete in the 400m, 800m and 1500m races at London 2012. She is coached by Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson and is already one of the fastest in her category in the world.
