The quartet of acro-gymnasts, competing as 'Acropolis', wowed the judging panel of Rio Ferdinand, Freddie Flintoff, Martine McCutcheon and Una Healy with their technique, skill and athleticism and, most importantly, creativity, style and flair to win GOLD and £100,000 for the Durham club.

Hosted by Vernon Kay, 'Let's Get Gold' is a sport meets entertainment mini-series of three pre-recorded episodes, broadcast across consecutive nights on ITV 1. Sporting teams from across the UK battled it out in front of a panel of celebrity pundits from the worlds of show-business and sport. Over three nights, 15 teams displayed their skills in disciplines as wide-ranging as Martial Arts and Cheerleading as they transformed their sports into the most spectacular and entertaining routine.

The judging panel consisted of former England captain and Premier League footballer Rio Ferdinand; former English cricketer Freddie Flintoff; singer and Laurence Olivier award-winning actress Martine McCutcheon; and singer-songwriter and part of successful girl group The Saturdays, Una Healy.

Deerness Gymnastics Academy, in Ushaw Moor, County Durham, have become one of Britain's top gymnastics clubs over the past 20 years, with over 60 international gymnasts with more than 50 World and European medals, including three World and four European Champions in its roll of honour.
