Man appears in court after explosives found
A man has appeared in court after police found homemade explosives and an improvised firearm at his home in Gateshead.
Michael Lynn appeared before an emergency court at South Tyneside Magistrates in South Shields yesterday.
The 61-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm after officers raided his house at Parkfield, in Ryton last Friday morning. It's believed police are also having tests done on a substance that was found.
Bomb Disposal experts were called to the property during the raid as a precaution after police found the substance. No evacuations were made from surrounding houses.
Mr Lynn was remanded in custody and the case has been adjourned until Thursday.
