After several failed attempts to import a stranded turtle to warmer waters, a Guernsey animal centre has finally found a way to send 'Barnacle Bill' home.

The reptiles can fetch as much as $1,000 (£765) each on the Chinese black market, according to court documents.

Researchers led by the University of Portsmouth used knowledge from local communities in India to track down the Cantor’s giant softshell turtle.
