The North East actor has told ITV News Tyne Tees a routine operation on his gall bladder in Spain stopped him filming Benidorm.

The Benidorm actor was taken seriously ill last year. He's now back in the north east raising money for fellow actor Dave Whitacker.

The 64-year-old reportedly had been fighting for his life when he fell ill almost a month ago during filming of the ITV hit's ninth series.
