Thomas Cashman Trial

Cheryl Korbel has been campaigning for a change in the law to force criminals to appear in court after her daughter's killer refused to appear for sentencing.

A number of requests were made for Thomas Cashman's sentence to be increased after he shot the nine-year-old dead in her home in Dovecot on 22 August.

Thomas Cashman was given a mandatory life sentence for murder and told he must serve 42 years before becoming eligible for parole when he was jailed.
