Major airlines like Tui and Ryanair now operate out of the airport.

High-tech scanners, known as C3 scanners, are installed at the airport near Darlington, ensuring liquids can be properly screened inside of travellers' bags.

Plans for a so-called Jet Centre and Aviation Village for the site were backed by Darlington Borough Council's planning committee on Wednesday 1 March.
