Tata Steel has begun asking employees if they would consider voluntary redundancy, according to the UK government following a meeting of its transition board.

Business Secretary says the government wants to build a the electric arc furnace in Teesside 'very quickly', but says it has to be 'right for the taxpayer'.

Tata says it will cease operations of its Port Talbot-based Morfa Coke Ovens from March 20.
