A UK-based spy ring passed secrets to Russia for almost three years, threatening national-interest and putting 'many lives at risk', a court has heard.

He added that spies from China are willing to do ‘whatever it takes’ to gather commercial and military intel.

The group are accused of conspiring to gather information that would be useful to an enemy.
