The 18 bed unit at Parklands Hospital in Basingstoke will be for female patients and is designed to ensure women in crisis receive the care they need.

Nigel Pascoe QC was speaking on the last day of a hearing prompted by failures in the way the Trust cared for five patients who died between 2011 and 2015.

Since 2013, the Trust has faced a string of damning reports into its leadership and patient safety but it has now been rated 'good' overall.
