Shellfish

Exclusive research has shown two shellfish areas on the south coast have recorded levels of E coli 700 times above the acceptable rating.

Visitors to Saltburn were met with the sight of hundreds of thousands of dead mussels, starfish – some of which were barely moving – crabs and razor clams.

Shellfish producers around Poole Harbour have been advised to halt sales because of possible contamination following an oil leak.
