A 70-year-old Birmingham scrap metal business has been saved from imminent closure after a last-minute deal with HS2.

The six-metre high soldier in Dorset is built from all sorts of old metal including horse shoes and old spanners.

From today it will be illegal for scrap merchants to pay cash for metal. There's also an increase in fines for offenders.
