Brown, who was a Scottish Labour MP for over 32 years, spoke to ITV News on the back of the pro-independence SNP triumphing in the Holyrood elections.

The SNP in Scotland and Labour in Wales were the big winners of the devolved administration elections, while the Tories triumphed over Labour in England.

With a manifesto promise to hold a second independence referendum, the SNP is on collision course with the UK Government.
