Member of parliament calls for ministers to step in to regulate or subsidise cross-Solent ferry services, following meetings at the Department for Transport.

MPs and residents are calling for greater regulation of Isle of Wight ferry services, owing to what they describe as 'ferociously expensive' fares.

The services between East Cowes and Southampton were suspended for several hours due to a technical failure of the drawbridge, which has since been repaired.
