It’s claimed that there’s just one nursery place for every two children in the borough.

The owner of a nursery on Tyneside is calling on the government to 'pay more' to childcare providers in order to make ends meet.

The Prime Minister was put on the spot by a mum -of-two who said "nurseries are struggling" and "it doesn't feel like the system has got the foundations right".
