Workers found the vapes after receiving reports of a blocked sewer in the West End of Darlington in August.

Thames Water, Yorkshire Water, and Northumbrian Water have all been fined for failing to manage wastewater treatment works.

The Environment Agency found a record amount of sewage spills into rivers and seas in the UK last year, including thousands of spills in our region.
