Hurricane Julia hit Nicaragua's central Caribbean coast on Sunday and dumped torrential rains across Central America before an expected reemergence.

The group were protesting against Nicaraguan leader Daniel Ortega when the armed attacks began.

The protests have expanded beyond the original opposition to the social security changes to include broader anti-government grievances.
