All MOT appointments were cancelled in Northern Ireland on Wednesday morning after a computer glitch.

In some cases, motorists are travelling hundreds of miles to secure an appointment. 

Bin lorries in Sandwell are to be mounted with Number Plate Recognition cameras as part of a council-led crackdown on ‘nuisance’ vehicles. 

Nearly 750,000 cars failed the emissions tests since May 20.

Some 49% of drivers questioned by the RAC mistakenly believe vehicles found to have a ‘minor’ fault will fail the test.
