Flies

A primary school in North Yorkshire closed for two days after a fly infestation saw swarms of flies in the classrooms, kitchen and toilets.

Flies appear every winter, but they have been particularly prevalent this year due to huge amounts of seaweed washing up on Jersey's east coast.

Peter Melemendjian, who lives in Little Ellingham, says the problem is so bad now "there's almost always flies buzzing around you".
