Four fires in bin lorries in County Durham this year are believed to have been started by lithium batteries.

Proposals to combine Horndale County Infant and Nursery School and St Francis Church of England Junior School have been raised by Durham County Council.

Work is underway to redevelop Whorlton Bridge near Barnard Castle, which closed in 2019 after it was to be unsafe for vehicles or pedestrians.
