The annual prize will go to students at a Cambridge University college, many of whom studied at the hospital where the veteran broadcaster was treated.

The former presenter died on 31 August, aged 66, after a “challenging and committed fight against prostate cancer”.

The broadcaster, who died this week, had spoken out against the plans for a new nuclear plant near his home on the Suffolk coast.
