A retired assistant chief constable accused of misleading a public inquiry into a fatal police shooting will not face any disciplinary action, following a decision made at a three-minute hearing held by his former force.

Steven Heywood, who was accused of misleading a public inquiry into the shooting of an unarmed man will not face misconduct proceedings.

Anthony Grainger, 36, was fatally wounded by a GMP firearms officer, whilst he was sitting in a stolen car in Cheshire.
