First of two winners comes forward to claim record Lotto jackpot

One of two winning ticket-holders for Saturday night's Lotto has come forward to claim their prize, Camelot has confirmed.

The National Lottery operator said that it had received a claim on one of the tickets and further security checks would take place.

A spokesperson for Camelot explained that the earliest the ticket can be validated and the prize paid out is Monday, when the banks are back open.

The ticket-holder can then decide whether to share their news or remain anonymous.

No further information will be disclosed unless the ticket-holder chooses to share their news.

There are two winners of the record National Lottery jackpot, sharing a total of £66 million, lottery organisers have said.

The two winners both matched six winning numbers.

A National Lottery spokesperson said:

The winning Lotto numbers are: 58, 47, 27, 46, 52, 26 and the bonus number is 48.

The results of the Lotto Raffle have been announced on the National Lottery website.

Lottery ticket buyers are automatically entered into the Lotto Raffle, with one person winning £1 million and a further 20 winning £20,000.

Meanwhile Lotto players await the announcement of who has won tonight's record jackpot, expected at around 11.30pm.

The winning lottery numbers have been announced for the record-breaking £57.8 million Lotto draw.

The numbers are: 58, 47, 27, 46, 52, 26 and the bonus ball was 48.

At least 400 tickets were sold every second in the last hours before sales stopped for Saturday's historic Lotto draw, operator Camelot said.

A record-breaking estimated jackpot of £57.8 million is up for grabs, with hopeful buyers snapping up tickets in the rush before 7.30pm, when sales stopped.

The "unprecedented" sales caused problems for the National Lottery website, with many people complaining they could not buy tickets online.

TV star Noel Edmonds will push the button to start the draw, which will be aired on BBC One at 9.55pm.

The Deal Or No Deal host, who presided over the first ever draw in November 1994, said: "I was honoured to be asked to host the first National Lottery draw and I'm proud to be pushing the button tonight on such a historic occasion."

"Unprecedented demand" for tonight's record Lotto jackpot is to blame for the sluggish performance on the National Lottery website, operator Camelot has said.

With the Lotto jackpot now standing at nearly £60 million, there are fears the website could again struggle with the surge in demand, as last-minute rush to buy tickets had crashed the lotto website ahead of the previous draw - which had no winners.

A Camelot spokesman said: "As you can appreciate, we're seeing unprecedented demand for tickets for tonight's record-breaking Lotto draw. Tickets can also be bought at any of our 37,000 retail outlets up until 7.30pm, so there's still plenty of time for people to do that."

Meanwhile Barclays' Pingit app, which has a built-in function to purchase National Lottery tickets, has also been affected by Lotto website's outage.
