North Korea marks 70 years of ruling party

North Korea has celebrated the 70th anniversary of its ruling Workers' Party this weekend.

The main celebrations were held on Saturday when the country hosted a huge military parade attended by Supreme leader Kim Jong-un who told gathered troops in Pyongyang's main Kim Il Sung Square that his country was ready to fight "any kind of war waged by the US".

On Sunday, as the celebrations drew to a close crowds were treated to a special show at the country's only dolphinarium as 10,000 performers entertained at a special gala to celebrate seven decades of party rule.

N Korea showcases arsenal at 70th anniversary parade

Showcasing a nation that's in a world of its own, the shuttered North Korea drew the curtains wide open today for everyone to witness its arsenal.

Armed soldiers paraded and huge lines of military equipment were shown off during a celebration to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Worker's Party. North Koreans heralded their dictator like a God.

"The Korean army is ready to aggressive wars waged by the U.S." leader Kim Jong-Un proclaimed.

Flypasts as North Korea shows off military at parade

Aircraft flew over Pyongyang in formation as part of ongoing celebrations of the 70th anniversary of North Korea's ruling Workers' Party.

North Korea is ready to fight "any kind of war waged by the US", leader Kim Jong Un said in a speech during celebrations to mark 70 years of the ruling Workers' Party.

Addressing troops gathered in Pyongyang's main Kim Il Sung Square, he said: "The party's revolutionary armament means we are ready to fight any kind of war waged by the U.S. imperialists."

A senior Chinese Communist Party official was present at the event as an envoy of President Xi Jinping.

A huge military parade took place in North Korea on Saturday to mark the 70th anniversary of its ruling Workers' Party.

Supreme leader Kim Jong-un attended the ceremony in Pyongyang's main Kim Il Sung Square, which saw troops marching in formation.

Armoured vehicles have also been seen lining the streets of the secretive country's capital.

The start of the ceremony, expected to be one of the largest held by North Korea, was delayed by rain.
