Michelle Obama meets Prince Harry

Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the United States, met with Prince Harry today at his palace in Kensington.

Mrs Obama was later given a very warm welcome indeed by students at an all-girls' school in east London.

Mrs Obama is visiting Britain to discuss her campaigns for girls' education and better support for military families.

Later, she is due to meet David Cameron.

Prince Harry invited Michelle Obama to his palace in Kensington this morning for a cup of tea.

The First Lady of the United States met the fifth in line to the throne to discuss support for veterans and their families - and to introduce her to her daughters Sasha and Malia, and her mother Marian Robinson.

First Lady announces £128m UK-US education scheme

Michelle Obama has announced a £128m ($200m) partnership between the US and the UK to help educate adolescent girls in developing countries.

Writing in the Financial Times, the First Lady said girls face obstacles to education such as forced marriages, early pregnancies, abuse and sexism, and described this as "a heartbreaking injustice".

She said the UK was a "global leader" for girls' education, and announced that "British and American partners will work together to support teacher training, girls' leadership camps, and other community-based programmes in developing countries".

She is meeting David Cameron later today to discuss the matter.

First Lady tells schoolgirls that their lives are similar

In an inspirational speech, Michelle Obama has told the pupils of an east London girls' school that her experience of growing up poor and working hard for an education is the same as theirs.

Mrs Obama, the wife of the President of the USA, told girls that “the world needs more girls like you growing up to lead our parliaments and board rooms”.

The First Lady spoke of her own struggles to work hard and persuade people that she could make it into an elite university.

She's visiting Britain to promote her Let Girls Learn campaign, to boost education for adolescent girls around the world.

Michelle Obama and Prince Harry met for tea this morning at Kensington Palace.

The First Lady of the United States met the fifth in line to the throne to discuss support for veterans and their families.

They also discusses Mrs Obama's Let Girls Learn initiative, which aimsto improve adolescent girls' education around the world, and which is the purpose of her visit to the the country.

The Prince also met Malia and Sasha Obama, as well as the First Lady's mother Marian Robinson.

She is about to host an event at the Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets to discuss how to improve her Let Girls Learn campaign to help educate adolescent girls across the world.
