French comedian 'faces trial for condoning terrorism'

French comedian Dieudonne is to stand trial on a charge of condoning terrorism, a judicial source has told Agence France-Presse.

Dieudonne - whose full name is Dieudonné M'bala M'bala - had been arrested earlier today after a Facebook post which said "I feel like Charlie Coulibaly" - a reference to the gunman that killed four at a Jewish supermarket on Friday.

A French comedian who appeared to compare himself to one of the gunmen who killed 17 people in three days of terror attacks in Paris last week has been arrested on suspicion of defending terrorism.

According to Agence France-Presse, comic Dieudonné M'bala M'bala posted a message on Facebook - since deleted - which read: "Tonight, as far as I'm concerned, I feel like Coulibaly."

The post apparently mixed the name of terrorist Amedy Coulibaly with the 'Je Suis Charlie' statement of support for the Charlie Hebdo workers killed by Coulibaly's accomplices.

Coulibaly killed four at a Jewish supermarket on Friday, two days after the massacre at the magazine's headquarters.

Controversial comic Dieudonné hit the headlines for popularising the 'quenelle' Nazi-style salute, and has a number of convictions for racism and anti-Semitism.
